Stephen Prince defines digital visual effects as an expressive tool to filmmakers which bridge with art and science gives relevant understanding of how digital imaging tools function in cinema nowadays. His arguments are based on successful industry movies such as Jurassic parkAvatarZodiacNotebook. 

The author discusses various digital effects techniques used in cinema, how filmmakers achieved realism, believable visuals for the audience and how Digital VFX is replacing older effects such as prosthetics due to better results. To conclude, the article has strong statements with well chosen examples to prove his statements discussing the conjunction of art and science characterising cinema throughout its history.

Lev Manovich in his essay presents the history of digital cinema and approaches a wide history length starting at nineteenth-century creation techniques of moving images and throughout the essay, the author compares the twenty-first-century common cinema features, a variety of computer softwares that are replacing the traditional film technology. In the essay, the author investigates how at the beginning of cinema creation it was meant to be an accurate representation of the physical world while nowadays imagery can be completely altered and be far from reality. The author of the essay states that "Digital cinema is a particular case of animation which uses live-action footage as one of its many elements”(Manovich, 2001).
